What Happened?
On September 18, 2014, Lawrence was working as an Uber driver (rideshare service). As Lawrence cautiously waited for traffic to pass before turning left to pick up a customer, he was rear-ended by another vehicle. The crash propelled his vehicle forward, causing him to crash into an oncoming vehicle (accident depiction below).
Lawrence was transported by ambulance to Harlem Hospital for medical evaluation and was discharged later that day. As a result of the accident, Lawrence suffered the following injuries:
- Left shoulder synovitis with a SLAP tear, partial rotator cuff tear, subacromnial impingement (requiring surgery);
- C5/6, C4/5, C/3/4 and C2/3 disc herniations with foraminal impingement (requiring epidural steroid injections);
